There’s so much out there on the internet that it can be challenging to know where to go to get accurate information about your pet.  The following are links to trusted websites that provide valuable information on pet care for your dog or cat.

The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA)

is the national and international voice for Canada’s veterinarians, providing leadership and advocacy for veterinary medicine.  CVMA priorities include: leadership on national veterinary issues, animal welfare advocay and helping veterinarians and their staff build a successful career with work/life balance.

The Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA)

helps veterinarians make the most of their profession as well as find work life balance. The OVMA established the Farley Foundation which is a wonderful charity providing financial help for pet care to individuals that truly are in need. As a member of the OVMA, every year Brock Street Animal Hospital holds a fundraising event for the Farley Foundation.  Since 2002, the Farley Foundation has assisted well over 6400 low-income pet owners by subsidizing the non-elective veterinary care of their sick or injured pets.  Way to go Farley! The College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO) 

is the licensing body for veterinarians in this province.  Brock Street Animal Hospital is a CVO accredited hospital.  The College protects your right to safe, competent and ethical veterinary care.  The College protects and serves the public interest through the regulation of the practice of veterinary medicine.  Accordingly, veterinarians are licensed, facilities are accredited, standards and policies are developed and maintained, and an investigations and resolutions process is available.  The College licenses approximately 4500 veterinarians and accredits over 2100 veterinary facilities in Ontario.  The veterinary profession in Ontario has been regulated since 1874 and is financed primarily by the licence fees of veterinarians in Ontario.

The Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC)

There are countless products available that claim to help keep pet’s mouths clean and healthy.  The Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) exists to recognize products that meet pre-set standards of plaque and calculus (tartar) retardation in dogs and cats. The VOHC seal of approval allows pet owners to choose products that have been studied and proven effective.
